Recovery is an ongoing process. This workshop specifically focuses on issues of addiction and chemical dependency such as denial, impulsiveness, low self-esteem, hopelessness, lack of control, minimization, isolation, job loss, and family conflict. Interactive activities with horses help participants view recovery from a different perspective. Metaphors are evoked which facilitate a better understanding of self and others. Activities will challenge old assumptions and beliefs, examine boundary setting and assertiveness issues, promote creative thinking and problem solving, and encourage self-empowerment, self-awareness, and sobriety while having fun with horses! Successful recovery strategies such as forming and keeping healthy relationships, identifying triggers, acknowledging unhealthy behavior patterns, and developing an internal locus of control and sense of balance are emphasized.[an error occurred while processing this directive]
